I earned my B.S. in Conservation & Resource Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. There, I completed a Senior Honors Thesis on international shark conservation and graduated with Departmental Honors. My degree was obtained under my maiden name: Sameen Ghazali.

The highlight of my college experience was living on a field station in French Polynesia while conducting an independent research project. This unique opportunity let me develop my
writing, lab, fieldwork, and scientific diving skills. Experiencing life on the island of Mo'orea was also an exceptional way to fulfill a life goal to live abroad for a period.

All that thinking will be mere moonshine
unless we realize that nothing but the courage and unselfishness of individuals
is ever going to make any system work.
